Pet Surgery

Many pets will need to undergo surgery at some point in their lives, whether it’s a routine spay/neuter procedure, tooth extraction, tumor removal, or something more complex. Here at Dr. Michael Tuder & Associates, we can perform a wide range of soft tissue pet surgery services at our Bayonne, Hoboken, Jersey City Downtown, and Jersey City Heights locations.

Our state-of-the-art surgical suites feature the most updated anesthetic and pain management protocols, allowing your pet to be as comfortable and safe as possible. They also include advanced surgical monitoring equipment so that every patient’s vital signs can be monitored before, during, and after surgery. We are pleased to also use a laser for many procedures, which results in less pain, less bleeding, and less swelling.

Pet Surgery in Hudson County: Dog Sits on Bench with Owner

Please feel free to let us know of any questions you have about your pet’s recovery, either upon pickup or while your pet is recovering from home. We want your pet to return to bird watching or ball chasing, just as much as you do!

Pre-Surgery Expectations

Regardless of the reason for pet surgery, we know you may have questions and concerns. We’ll be happy to address them all before receiving your pet. We don’t just want your pet to be comfortable during surgery; we want YOU to be comfortable, too, and to have peace of mind.

Before your pet’s surgery, we’ll perform an exam and pre-anesthetic blood work to be sure they’re healthy enough for anesthesia. We’ll also place an IV catheter for anesthesia, medication, and/or fluid therapy. Next, we’ll begin administering anesthesia and prep your pet for surgery, which typically includes clipping the fur at the incision or laser site. When your pet is fully prepped and sedated, we proceed with the surgery.

Post-Surgery Expectations

Once the pet surgery is complete, we’ll gradually reduce the anesthesia until your pet is fully awake. Your pet will be moved to our recovery area, where one of our technicians will continue to monitor them. We will then contact you to let you know that your four-legged family member is ready to return home to you. Upon your arrival, we’ll provide you with discharge instructions and all necessary medications for your pet's well-being.

“We love this place! I'm hesitant to write a great review because this place is already super popular, however they deserve it. They accept walk-ins which is really convenient, assuming you're ok to come at an off time, or be patient on a Saturday morning. We found them to be very friendly and nice with reasonably priced services. We highly recommend them!!”

- Hailey H.

“The staff here is fantastic, from the receptionists to the techs to the doctors. The feel of the hospital is very comfortable and not clinical like most places. We've seen several of the vets, who have all been great and very helpful. They are also very conscientious about following up on the pet's status which is great. I highly recommend this place.”

- Cayley A.

“The staff here is caring and patient. The doctors are also knowledgeable and answer my many questions. When I've had to wait for test results, the doctors have called me back by the time promised. My cat prefers a kind of food they don't normally carry and they ordered it for me, and continued to order it for me without asking, which is great. I haven't had a problem with wait time, either.”

- Jordan C.

“...really attentive and helpful through our dog’s epilepsy and surgeries. I can't say enough kind things about the practice. This may sound silly, but it is a huge plus that they have parking, which made running our dog in during an emergency a little easier vs. walking across town. Seriously the best vets in Hoboken I can never thank them enough.”

- Brooke S.

“This place LOVES animals, from the front desk to the gentle techs. My dog has had to be there quite a bit this month and I never feel taken advantage of financially (all vets are expensive) but they really CARE about animals. It is never fun watching a pet be sick or injured but I can't recommend them enough.”

- Ellyn M.

“All the doctors are knowledgeable, helpful, caring, friendly, and best of all - approachable with all my questions. They know their stuff, and when they walk into the room - they have already read up all the back ground of the specific pet. I'm quite impressed with their prep work.”

- Klessie P.

“I want to shout it from the rooftops- the Animal Infirmary of Hoboken/Michael Tuder and Associates are INCREDIBLE. They were informative, caring, they followed-up, they did what they could to make my financial situation work, and they treated me not just as another walk-in, but as a long time patient!”

- Frani L.

“From the bottom of my heart I thank all the doctors as well as each and every member of the staff who cared for my Scooter with such professionalism and kindness throughout his entire life. The compassion and understanding that you showed him and me on that last day is something I will never forget.”

- Maria J.

“It meant so much to me that you treated B.J. and Baby Zoey with respect. There aren’t enough beautiful words to express my gratitude. All I could say is if there were more people in the world like you than all our animals would be loved, cared for and happy. You guys are truly the best.”
