Prevention: The Best Medicine

They say the best way to treat an illness is to prevent it. That’s part of our philosophy here at Tuder Veterinary Group, and we believe that preventive care is essential to every pet’s ongoing health. That’s why our wellness care services are designed to maintain our patients’ well-being with the goal of preventing illness. These include comprehensive wellness exams, vaccinations, parasite control, and counseling. With a complete preventive care plan, you can lengthen your pet’s lifespan, helping them be a happier, healthier companion.

About Your Pet’s Wellness Exam

While many veterinarians recommend annual wellness exams for pets, we strongly believe in bi-annual visits to help them stay healthy. Pets age about seven times faster than people, so the more often we can see them, the more likely we’ll be to catch, treat, and prevent illnesses. Each wellness visit includes a nose-to-tail examination of your pet. We’ll look for a variety of different characteristics, including weight gain/loss, lumps, and tartar buildup—all of which can be signs of disease. If necessary, we can recommend blood work, X-rays, or other diagnostic services. We can also discuss and prescribe treatment during the same visit, if a diagnosis can be made after the physical exam.

Other important aspects of pet wellness include:

Vaccinations
Parasite Control
General Counseling

Vaccinating your pet is another important component of keeping them healthy. Vaccines help strengthen the immune system so that if your pet is ever exposed to the illness for which they were vaccinated, their body will be prepared to fight it off.

There are many parasitic diseases that can affect your pet, such as Lyme Disease (tick-borne), Heartworm (mosquito-borne), and a type of Allergic Dermatitis caused by fleas, so it’s important to keep your pet protected year-round. We offer a variety of parasite preventives that can help keep parasites at bay.

Please feel free to let us know of any questions or concerns you have regarding your pet’s health, whether it’s related to weight, behavior, routine blood tests, cancer screenings, etc. We place a strong emphasis on client education, so we’re always happy to help.
